Landscapes and Emptiness: A Tribute to J. G. Ballard

“Civilised life, you know, is based on a huge number of illusions in which we all collaborate willingly. The trouble is we forget after a while that they are illusions and we are deeply shocked when reality is torn down around us.”

J.G. Ballard warned us, for several decades and through his words and books, of the emptiness and decline of modern society; of the psychological effect that technology and urban landscapes with all their variety of structures exert on our minds; and of the new fears and perversions that would evolve into the hurtful nightmares of today.

Each song is inspired by a story by J. G. Ballard (indicated in the parenthesis after the song title).

From track two to track 14 are songs inspired by Ballard's short stories.

And from track 16 to track 35 are pieces inspired by his novels (arranged chronologically), grouped in such a way that each block contains songs by different artists based on the same book.
